Job Advert: Therapeutic Youth Mentor – Ipswich
Salary: £25,465 per annum
Location: Ipswich, Suffolk
Shift Pattern: 08:00 – 23:30 (with one sleep-in shift on average per week)
About the Role
A children’s residential care provider is seeking a dedicated and reliable Therapeutic Youth Mentor to join their team in Ipswich. In this role, you’ll be part of a compassionate and supportive environment, working with young individuals who require guidance, care, and a therapeutic approach to achieve positive outcomes. This rewarding position allows you to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable young people, supporting them on their journey towards personal development and independence.
Your duties will include:
- Providing therapeutic support and guidance to young people in care
- Assisting with emotional and practical challenges they may face
- Creating a safe and nurturing environment that promotes well-being
- Encouraging independence and personal growth
- Collaborating with colleagues and external professionals to achieve the best outcomes
- Carrying out shift duties, including occasional sleep-ins
- Acting as a positive role model
- Supporting access to education, health, and community involvement
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for individuals who are:
- Compassionate, reliable, and dedicated to supporting young people
- Comfortable working a shift pattern (including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins)
- Able to use initiative while working effectively as part of a team
- Hold a full UK driving licence with access to a car for commuting
- Experienced in working with young people in a care setting, or with transferable skills and a passion for supporting vulnerable individuals
- Positive, proactive, creative, and calm under pressure
Key Requirements
- Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK (sponsorship is not available)
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
