We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Youth Justice Officer to join the justice team in Islington. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of statutory experience within Youth Justice and preferably be a Qualified Social Worker or Probation Officer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise statutory orders for children and young people within the jurisdiction of the Youth Justice Service.
- Ensure court sentences are delivered by facilitating compliance and utilising enforcement processes when necessary.
- Prepare pre-sentence and referral order reports adhering to national standards.
- Represent the Youth Justice Service at various courts including Youth Court and Crown Court.
- Collaborate with children's service social work teams to support young people remanded to Local Authority accommodation.
- Provide support for young people in the Secure Estate to address offending behaviour and facilitate resettlement into the community.
- Undertake office duties, manage caseloads, and conduct direct work with children, young people, and their families.
- Utilise ASSETPlus and other assessment tools to analyse information and understand young people's offending behaviour.
- Assess risk accurately and develop and implement risk management plans.
- Develop and deliver intervention plans with measurable targets to prevent re offending and protect victims and communities.
- Promote multi-agency working through effective communication and attendance at case reviews.
- Provide supervision and support for young people on bail and at risk of remand.
- Report concerns regarding the safety and welfare of children and young people to appropriate professionals.
- Facilitate opportunities for restorative justice for victims and offenders
- Collaborate with public, private, and voluntary sector agencies to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people.
Requirements:
- Minimum of two years statutory experience within Youth Justice.
- Preferably a Qualified Social Worker or Probation Officer.
- Experience with Asset Plus assessments.
- Proficiency in youth court procedures.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Flexibility to work occasional weekends and bank holidays.
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle preferred.
