Housing Support Worker
- Hourly Rate: £12.85 PAYE
- Location: Halifax, HX1
- Job Type: Temporary, Full-time (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm)
- Contract: Hybrid
We are seeking a dedicated Housing Support Worker to provide specialist floating support around domestic abuse, helping individuals in their own homes to ensure safety and tenancy maintenance. This role requires regular visits to clients' homes across various locations within the Borough.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Provide specialist floating support to clients, including those referred to the Sanctuary Scheme and those transitioning from Safe Accommodation/Refuge.
- Assess and identify client needs to develop and implement holistic, multidisciplinary support plans.
- Conduct comprehensive risk/safety assessments in line with Calderdale Safeguarding policies, including the Calderdale DASH risk assessment.
- Assist clients in accessing benefits, health, and social care entitlements.
- Support clients in complying with their tenancy agreements and managing finances to ensure rent and bills are paid.
- Organise and lead case meetings and reviews, acting as the 'Lead professional' in Child Protection conferences and Child In Need meetings when appropriate.
- Help clients integrate into the community and become familiar with local resources.
- Maintain comprehensive, accurate case records, both written and electronic.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Level 3 qualification in Social Care, Health, or Housing, or a relevant Level 3 qualification with proven experience.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
- Experience working directly with vulnerable adults.
- Experience in handling cases involving drug, alcohol, or mental health issues.
- Strong multi-agency working skills.
- Ability to prioritise and respond effectively to crises.
- Influential and motivational communication skills.
- In-depth knowledge of domestic abuse impacts on adults and trauma-informed care approaches.
- Familiarity with welfare benefits and the application processes.
