Job description:

Overview

To assist the workshop operations for the production of high-quality structural steelwork, architectural metal works and associated products; to learn from work colleagues, and where necessary attend site to carry out minor works

Responsibilities

• Work safely and have regard for the safety of others
• Assist fabricators and welders with material handling and preparation
• Cut, grind, and clean steel components as directed
• Operate basic workshop tools and machinery safely and efficiently
• Help maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment
• Unload deliveries and organise steel stock as required- Goods in/Goods out
• Perform general workshop duties including sweeping, waste disposal, and tool maintenance
• Follow all health and safety regulations and company procedures
• Report any equipment faults or safety concerns to the Foreman/Manager
• Provide ad-hoc support for project preparation and assembly
• Use of overhead crane
• Use of plant including but not exclusively, Plasma, break press
• Primarily based in a busy workshop environment
• May involve occasional outdoor work or site visits
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times
• Standard working hours with potential for overtime during busy periods

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a workshop or manufacturing environment is preferred
• Basic understanding of hand tools and workshop machinery
• Physically fit and capable of manual handling tasks
• Strong work ethic, punctuality, and attention to detail
• Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to learn and take on varied tasks
• Forklift license or relevant certifications (desirable but not essential)
• Knowledge of steel fabrication processes (advantageous)

Hours:

• Monday to Friday
• 8am to 5pm
