Main Areas of Responsibility

Your responsibilities will include

  • Being the first point of contact and named responsible officer for first aid for students and staff
  • Managing the register of suitably qualified first aiders within the Academy, ensuring that all qualifications are valid, and developing a programme of qualification renewals
  • Ensuring sufficient qualified staff to assist in emergency first aid
  • Development of health care plans where appropriate and/or consent to be obtained for emergency medication
  • Administration of all student medication
  • Updating of the Handle with Care List of students with “need to know” conditions
  • Delivering specific medical related needs of students as defined within their individual Statements of Additional Needs
  • Administering and assisting in the programme of student medical examinations, assessments and inoculations as required
  • Advising and training Academy staff in specific procedures which they may be expected to carry out in the absence of a trained nurse
  • Promoting health education in partnership with the teaching/support staff and the Health Authority
  • Maintaining the highest possible standards of clinical procedures
  • Liaising with parents and medical personnel to ensure that the health needs of students are satisfied
  • Arranging to get students home safely or to alternative care, where necessary
  • Ensuring that suitable and sufficient stocks of first aid consumables and equipment are maintained
  • Working within current Child Protection Procedures and in liaison with the safeguarding team
  • Ensuring confidentiality of all medical information
  • Ensuring up-to-date clinical and professional practice is maintained
What We are Looking For

We would like to hear from you if you have:

  • Good level of education
  • A recognised First Aid Qualification or higher educational achievement or be willing to obtain one as soon as in post.
  • Experience of working in a busy office environment
  • Experience of working with adults and pupils
