Waste Collection Operatives - Reed : Job Details

Barnsley Council are looking for 6 Waste Collection Operatives to join our team immediately. This role is crucial for maintaining community cleanliness and efficiency in waste management. The position is physically demanding and requires working in all weather conditions.

• Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver council services, focusing on household waste collection.
• Operate mechanical bin lifting machinery daily within strict health and safety procedures.
• Responsible for the daily use, maintenance, and security of vehicles, machinery, and equipment.
• Provide courteous customer service when responding to service improvement requests and report any issues to the driver, supervisor, or manager.
• Follow the guidance of the driver and supervisor, using personal initiative to deliver services to a professional standard within agreed guidelines.
• Adhere to schedules and standards, responding positively to new initiatives as required by line managers.
• Demonstrate safe practices to other employees, apprentices, trainees, and students.
• Comply with all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures including Health and Safety, Customer Care, and Dignity at Work.

• Physical fitness and ability to handle physically demanding tasks.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Experience in operating machinery and equipment preferred.
• Strong focus on safety and compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
• Tuesday to Friday 6.00am - 15.45pm, any overtime is paid at time and a half and paid on any Monday or Saturday.
