Ward Manager - Priory Group : Job Details

Priory Hospital Dewsbury is looking to recruit a ward manager to join the team in our 2 wards of 16 beds, for male patients who have mental health disorders. This is a full time 40 hours role.Based in the residential area of Earlsheaton, West Yorkshire, Priory Hospital Dewsbury provides level 2 rehabilitation services divided into two wards. Care is for male patients who have mental health disorders and we also offer neuropsychiatry support, support for older people and dementia, community-focused rehabilitation, and support for severe and enduring mental health.

You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. As a ward manager, you will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.

• Provide clinical management and leadership for the entire nursing team on the ward.
• Serve as a highly visible role model and mentor to the nursing staff.
• Oversee and maintain the highest standards of nursing care.
• Act as a senior clinical member of the team, offering advice and support from a nursing perspective.
• Manage and take responsibility for the ward environment and its resources.

Your natural empathy will help you support others through both the highs and lows.The ideal candidate requires current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a first-level nurse or with the Health and Care Professions Council. Candidates should have at least two years of experience in a supervisory capacity within a relevant care setting, along with the appropriate registration or experience specific to the ward. A willingness to undertake further clinical, managerial, and leadership training relevant to the area of practice is essential. Applicants must also be trained and currently practicing as an Assessor or Supervisor, be computer literate, and have previous experience as a registered practitioner in clinical settings relevant to the post.
