VP of Engineering – AI Voice Tech (Berlin/Hybrid, European Focus)

Are you ready to take a thriving engineering team to the next stage of scale and innovation in AI-powered voice technology? We are seeking an exceptional VP of Engineering to lead a high-growth team working on advanced Golang and Python backend solutions.

About the Role

  • Hands-on technical leadership of a 30-person, multi-squad engineering team, recently scaled for in-house product delivery.
  • Five agile squads specialize across backend and AI-centric technologies, especially Golang (voice backend) and Python.
  • The VP oversees five direct reports: two team leads, head of engineering, and three senior engineers, driving technical vision and delivery across squads.
  • Leadership is paramount: devote 75% of your time to management, organizational alignment, and high-level cross-functional collaboration (product, design, advisory, investor relations).
  • Ownership extends from technical decisions to attracting talent, process evolution, and product impact.

What You'll Need

  • 8-12 years’ progressive engineering experience including direct management of at least 5+ engineers.
  • Track record scaling teams in fast-paced environments—Series A to C preferred.
  • Deep hands-on expertise in Golang; comfortable with Python and other modern backend languages.
  • Demonstrable experience building real-world AI or voice technology products.
  • Strong hybrid/remote management skills, able to motivate, coach, and unify distributed squads.
  • Exceptional cross-functional collaboration, stakeholder influence, and strategic vision.
  • Proven ability to thrive under ambitious, equity-driven incentives—high commitment required.
  • Open-source contributions a major plus.

Location & Flexibility

  • Berlin-based position with hybrid work model. Exceptional candidates in the UK or New York may be considered, but European backgrounds are prioritized.

Recruitment Process

  • Four rigorous stages: recruiter screen, interviews with CTO and product team, external advisor deep dive, investor/CEO conversation.
