Locations considered are Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Stirling

Salary £45,000 to £50,000 DOE

Candidate form VFF / Outsourced Finance / Business Advisory (Accounts) backgrounds welcomed

The Role

Virtual Finance Function Assistant Manager

As a result of continued expansion, a growing professional services team is seeking an Assistant Manager to join its Virtual Finance Function (VFF). This role involves working closely with clients to understand their unique business needs, helping them navigate financial complexity, and providing tailored accounting services that support their strategic goals.

This is a varied and hands-on position ideal for someone with a strong foundation in finance who’s equally comfortable managing the day-to-day operations and contributing to higher-level financial insights. The successful candidate will support statutory compliance, deliver meaningful management reporting, and provide financial forecasts that guide business decisions. The role is client-facing and best suited to someone who is proactive, collaborative, and passionate about leveraging cloud-based solutions to deliver excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a comprehensive range of accountancy services to a portfolio of clients, including:
  • Preparation of management accounts and reports
  • Statutory financial reporting and review
  • Cashflow and forecasting models
  • Client relationship management
  • Liaising with auditors
  • Supporting ad-hoc, client-driven projects
  • Oversee resource planning and support for both self and junior staff, ensuring the team is equipped to deliver outstanding service
  • Build strong client relationships and act as a trusted advisor

Ideal Experience

  • Fully qualified accountant with experience in either practice or industry
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to implementation
  • A team-oriented mindset and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
