The Role

The Manager role is a challenging but highly rewarding position. As a manager, you will be responsible for day-to-day technical work through to people management, offering lots of variety and opportunity to develop.

What you will be doing

Onboarding:

• Providing support on calls with new clients for junior members of the team and providing constructive feedback.

• Reviewing internally generated resources prepared by team and amending where necessary.

• Assessing whether advice should be further reviewed by Associate Director.

• Assessing upselling opportunities for new clients re: compliance and technical advice.

• Co-ordinating with registrations team to answer compliance questions which arise during VAT registration.

Enquiries:

• Co-ordinating with line report to make sure that tax office enquiries for whole team are accurately recorded, risk assessed and answered within deadlines.

• Tracking profitability of all tax office enquiries for team and recommending fees for wider team on ad hoc enquiries work.

• Reviewing responses to tax offices by wider team upon request.

People Management:

• Regular 1-2-1s with line reports to monitor progress on technical understanding and competencies.

• Regular informal check-ins with junior members of the team to identify training needs and monitor technical understanding.

• Preparation of monthly update for management meetings.

• Monitoring use of and compliance with new processes within the team (eFiler).

New Business:

• Attending calls for prospective clients where requested.

• Preparation of fee proposals for compliance and advisory work.

Compliance:

• Working with junior members of the team to help them meet compliance deadlines and tracking upcoming deadlines.

• Review of VAT returns in all jurisdictions offered by Fiscal Solutions (c.30+).

• Feedback on quality of VAT compliance workings and identifying ways to minimise risk and make processes more efficient.

• Checking in with team members to make sure that tax office correspondence is risk assessed and actioned.

• Monitoring retrospective filing work and assessing/anticipating risks.

Generating IP:

• Creation of new VAT workings templates for new services and maintenance of existing templates.

• Reviewing new invoice templates and maintaining EU VAT legislation database.

• Reviewing changes to EU VAT compliance packs.

Advisory:

• Writing advisory reports for EU/UK/ROW VAT/GST.

• Attending calls with clients to understand advisory needs.

• Attending weekly technical meetings with Associate Director and Partner.

What we’re looking for

• Excellent verbal and written English. The ability to explain complex issues in a clear way.

• High attention to detail.

• Ability to minimise errors in own work and spot errors in others.

• Navigate competing priorities and deadlines, switch quickly between topics. Display excellent time management skills.

• Have a thorough knowledge of compliance in FS core jurisdiction UK, FR, DE, NL, IE.

• Passionate about solving technical and complex VAT issues.

• Keep up to date with changes in EU legislation and seek to understand it.

• Ability to delegate and manage upwards in the business.

• Understanding of the EU VAT Directive and comfortable in referring to relevant national legislation.

• Understanding of key EU VAT topics including place of supply, liability to account, scope of VAT, chargeable event, when to account for VAT, reporting requirements.

• Ability to use MS Office suite, with intermediate Excel, Word, and Outlook. Basic PowerPoint and Publisher.

• Demonstrable management experience, with the ability to motivate and develop those around you.

Salary : 60000 - 70000
