A welcoming and forward-thinking secondary school in Daventry is seeking an Unqualified History Teacher to join their Humanities department from September 2025. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity with the possibility of becoming permanent for the right candidate.

This role is ideal for candidates with teaching experience in History (or a related subject) who are aiming to transition into qualified teaching through routes such as PGCE, SCITT, or QTS Apprenticeships.

• Deliver engaging and well-structured History lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4

• Bring the past to life through dynamic teaching, storytelling, and historical inquiry

• Adapt content to suit a wide range of learners and support inclusive teaching practices

• Participate in department planning, marking, and assessment

• Manage classroom behaviour effectively and create a positive learning environment

• Support the wider school community through extra-curricular or enrichment activities

• Experience teaching or delivering History lessons in a secondary school or similar setting

• Strong subject knowledge and a passion for historical topics and critical thinking

• Confidence in managing a classroom and leading lessons independently

• Excellent communication and organisational skills

• A commitment to progressing towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one

• Long-term role with clear potential for permanent employment
