Tree Surgeon

- Job Type: Full-time, 37 hours per week
- Pay: £13.70 PAYE or £16.89 via Umbrella
My client are currently seeking a Tree Surgeon to join the team, delivering a customer-focused service throughout Leicestershire and occasionally surrounding counties. This role involves providing a comprehensive and professional arboriculture service for trees under the jurisdiction of Leicestershire County Council and private sector clients. The ideal candidate will have a passion for forestry and arboriculture, with a commitment to safety and excellence.
Day to Day of the role:
- Perform tree surgery, including crown lifting, dead wooding, crown reductions, bracing, and tree felling.
- Engage in planting and maintenance activities, including young tree and shrub maintenance, tree and shrub planting, and hedge layering.
- Undertake planting schemes of various sizes and carry out maintenance work.
- Drive and operate specialist plant machinery and use equipment such as wood chippers, chainsaws, and polesaws to meet contractual requirements.
- Conduct daily routine maintenance on vehicles and plant, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and safety standards.
- Manage Arboriculture Audits and Assessments on-site, ensuring efficient delivery of tree surgery and maintenance programs.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- National recognised Certificate in Arboriculture / Horticulture - essential.
- Valid Driving Licence and Mobile Elevated Works Platform license.
- Experience in all aspects of forestry and arboriculture work, and substantial experience using related machinery.
- Knowledge of LOLER and PUWER checks for equipment safety.
- Familiarity with New Roads and Streetworks Act (NRSWA) Qualification (Operatives) - desirable.
- National Highways Sector Scheme 12D - essential.
- Extensive knowledge of forestry and arboriculture specifications, materials, and workmanship requirements.
- Proficiency in primary identification of tree species and Visual Tree Assessment (VTA).
