Treasury Accountant / Bookkeeper (Temporary Contract)

We are seeking an experienced Treasury Accountant / Bookkeeper to join a growing team at a leading law firm on a temporary contract basis.

This is a full-time role based in a vibrant and well-connected office environment, offering a collaborative and professional setting within a close-knit team.

About the Role

You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting function and overseeing the monthly cycle of accounting, treasury, and associated processes using the integrated software Tessaract. A key part of the role involves working closely with the Office Manager on the monthly billing cycle and debt collection.

The firm currently comprises around twenty staff members, including sixteen fee-earners, and is expected to grow further over the next two years.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cash postings across multiple bank accounts and monthly reconciliations
  • Managing and reconciling client monies held in various currencies
  • Allocating client funds to settle invoices and disbursements
  • Monthly reconciliation of client bank accounts to client monies ledgers
  • Posting overheads, cost expenses, and credit card spend to nominal ledger accounts
  • Exploring automation tools such as Dext for ledger postings
  • Handling payroll matters and liaising with the payroll bureau
  • Covering billing processes during Office Manager’s absence, including:
  • Raising client invoices from WIP time records
  • Generating client invoice statements
  • Chasing overdue invoices (credit control)
  • Organising, prioritising, and meeting deadlines with strong attention to detail

Requirements

  • Minimum 4–5 years’ experience in a bookkeeping role with treasury responsibilities
  • Qualified by experience and/or AAT qualification (other relevant qualifications considered)
  • Experience handling client monies in multiple currencies is preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (advanced skills advantageous)
  • Team player with a proactive, “can-do” attitude
