Rise10 Recruitment are partnering with a leading logistics company who are recruiting for a Transport Planner. This is a key hire, offering you a unique chance to drive operational excellence and optimise transport planning processes.

In this roll, you will coordinate and utilise vehicles for delivery and collection, ensuring efficient route planning using bespoke transport planning software. You will manage emergency orders, monitor vehicle telematics, and ensure customer demand is met by balancing driver resources with vehicle requirements. Your responsibilities will also include briefing and debriefing drivers, responding promptly to route feedback, and maintaining high standards in operational procedures and general housekeeping.

Key Responsibilities

• Efficiently plan vehicles using bespoke transport planning software
• Optimise and manage delivery routes
• Ensure adherence to delivery timings and time windows
• Manage and plan for emergency orders
• Monitor and manage vehicle telematics information
• Proactively balance driver resources with vehicle requirements
• Brief and debrief drivers on their allocated runs
• Respond to route feedback and implement improvements
• Maintain up-to-date vehicle information on the system
• Liaise with subcontractors and customers
• Provide quotes using a costing matrix
• Handle out-of-hours calls and emails on a rota basis

About You

• 2-3 years’ experience in transport planning within the logistics and distribution industry
• Proven experience utilising TMS systems and other bespoke systems
• Excellent communication skills
• A real team player who thrives in a fast-paced, busy, and challenging environment
• Highly organised with the ability to plan and prioritise workload
• Proficient in Microsoft Office packages, notably Excel, with strong attention to detail
• Results-driven and commercially minded
• Exceptional customer service skills
