Transport Planner - Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited : Job Details

Your new companyOur client is a well established haulage and warehousing company who also specialise in container movements and bulk transport.

Your new roleThis is a Monday-Friday position with flexibility on start times with 1/4 Saturday mornings required. To manage and fulfil transport jobs in a timely manner. Distribution of the workflow amongst drivers ensuring efficiency throughout. Present assets for maintenance when scheduled. Cover your own traffic desk and cover other departments when required. Ensuring tachograph regulations are adhered to when planning. Checking all drivers are out first thing in the morning and reacting early to ensure gaps are filled if required. Ensuring drivers get a fair workload whilst managing their day to day duties, questioning and acknowledging any deviations from what they should be doing. Review the revenue analysis and make improvements when necessary. Liaise with other team members to ensure the fleet is planned efficiently. Highlight any concerns over driver's performance to your Supervisor, so action can be taken where required. On-call work is required, as well as standard office hours and weekend work. What you'll need to succeedGood overall understanding of traffic operations and practices. Full understanding of TOPS systems, telematics and VBS. Knowledge of driver tablets and their capabilities and uses.IT competence in internal and external applications. Excellent communication skills and ability to work under pressure. Proactive approach to core responsibilities, teamwork, willingness to support colleagues.

What you'll get in returnA salary of between £35,000 and £40,000 with 33 days annual leave. They also offer death two times in service.
