About the Role & Grad2Teach Programme
This Graduate Trainee Humanities Teacher role is part of the Grad2Teach salaried initial teacher training programme—a financially supported, classroom-based route into teaching.
You will:
Begin by delivering Humanities lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (subject to specialism and curriculum)
Progress through Grad2Teach’s structured two-phase training model
Work toward a PGCE with QTS, awarded by Coventry University
Receive a salary throughout your training—no tuition fees required
Benefit from expert mentoring, tailored coaching, and a curriculum aligned with the Teaching Standards and Core Content Framework
Training StructurePhase 1:
Support with planning and delivering engaging Humanities lessons
Assist with student interventions, enrichment activities, and learning support
Develop classroom management and inclusive teaching strategies
Phase 2:
Independently teach lessons (up to 18 hours per week)
Deepen subject knowledge and refine your teaching approach
Complete PGCE assignments and formal assessments

Candidate Requirements
To be eligible for this role, applicants must:
Hold a bachelor’s degree—ideally in a Humanities-related subject (e.g., History, Geography, Politics, Religious Studies, International Relations, etc.)
Be passionate about teaching and inspiring students through the Humanities
Demonstrate resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to professional development
Hold (or be working towards) GCSEs in English and Maths (flexibility may be available in Phase 1)
