Our training programme includes over 50 hours of 121 - tuition with a qualified trainer, as well as full back-office support. Once you’ve completed your training, you'll have the opportunity to join on off Swindon’s leading driving schools. Our PDI Trainee Licence scheme allows you to earn while you train, giving you a head start as you prepare for the DVSA’s new Part 3 test.

What’s Involved in Becoming a Driving Instructor?

To become a fully qualified instructor, you'll need to pass three key assessments:

• Part 1: Theory test
• Part 2: Practical driving test
• Part 3: Instructional ability test

DVSA Requirements:

To qualify as a driving instructor, you must meet the following criteria set by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA):

• Hold a full UK driving licence (or an approved foreign licence) for at least 3.5 years
• Have not been banned from driving within the last 4 years
• Have no more than 6 penalty points on your licence
• Be considered a "fit and proper" person by the DVSA

Training Costs & Earnings

There is a cost associated with becoming a driving instructor, but we offer our comprehensive instructor training course for just £1,995. Plus, when you become an instructor with KL Driver Training, we’ll refund this amount in full. On average, our driving instructors earn £45,250 per year. We also offer flexible payment plans to help you manage the cost.
