Our client is a well-known and reputable transport company based in Castle Donington. Currently they are looking for an experienced Trailer Technician / Trailer Fitter / Trailer Mechanic to join their busy depot.
Hours of work are Mon to Fri from 8am to 6pm with half day every other Saturday paying time and half. You will have NVQ level 3 or IRTEC.
1. Inspection and Diagnosis
- Inspect trailers to identify faults, wear, or damage.
- Diagnose issues with mechanical, electrical, braking, and suspension systems.
- Perform routine safety checks and compliance inspections.
2. Repair and Maintenance
- Repair or replace braking systems, air lines, ABS components, and suspensions.
- Fix or install mechanical components such as axles, wheel hubs, landing legs, and coupling systems.
- Conduct welding, cutting, and fabrication on trailer frames or body panels when needed.
- Repair electrical systems—including lights, wiring, and connectors.
- Replace tyres, wheels, and mudguards.
3. Trailer Assembly & Modifications
- Build new trailers or bodies following technical drawings.
- Fit hydraulic systems, tail lifts, toolboxes, and other accessories.
- Modify trailers for customer-specific requirements.
4. Documentation
- Complete job cards, inspection sheets, and maintenance reports.
- Record parts used and work performed for audit and compliance.
5. Use of Tools and Equipment
- Operate workshop tools such as jacks, lifts, welders, grinders, drills, and torque wrenches.
- Use diagnostic tools for braking, ABS, and electrical systems.
6. Safety and Compliance
- Follow health and safety procedures in the workshop.
- Ensure trailers meet roadworthiness and legal standards.
- Keep work area clean and maintain equipment.
