Town Planning Officer
- Hourly Rate: £40 - £45
- Location: Stockport, SK1
- Job Type: Temporary Contract (2 days in the office)
We are seeking a qualified Planning Officer with a robust understanding of planning legislation and a background in managing diverse application types. This role is ideal for someone with experience in a local authority planning department, particularly with expertise in greenbelt and conservation areas.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Conduct detailed planning assessments and prepare reports on a variety of applications, including those related to greenbelt and conservation areas.
- Undertake site visits to assess proposals and their impacts, ensuring all planning considerations are thoroughly evaluated.
- Work collaboratively with applicants, stakeholders, and other government bodies to guide and process planning applications.
- Manage and prioritise a mixed workload effectively, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of services.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of planning legislation and local government policies to provide accurate advice and support.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- RTPI membership or eligibility/progress towards RTPI membership.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in town planning, preferably within a local authority setting.
- Proven experience dealing with greenbelt and conservation area planning issues.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with a variety of stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills to manage diverse workloads efficiently.
- Full UK driving licence is essential as the role requires site visits.
