Job Purpose:
To perform high-quality TIG welding on stainless steel, aluminium, and other metals using Miller welding equipment, ensuring precision fabrication to meet production and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out TIG welding on a variety of materials (1.2 - 1.5mm stainless steel, aluminium, mild steel, etc.).
- Operate Miller welding machines with full understanding of settings, modes, and capabilities.
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings and specifications.
- Prepare materials including cutting, grinding, and cleaning before welding.
- Inspect welds visually and with measuring tools for defects and compliance with standards.
- Maintain equipment, perform minor troubleshooting, and report technical issues.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
- Collaborate with team members, fabricators, and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the welding area.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience as a TIG welder, ideally 3+ years.
- Proficient with Miller TIG welding machines (e.g., Syncrowave, Dynasty, or similar).
- Ability to weld thin gauge materials with high precision and clean finish.
- Skilled in reading and interpreting technical drawings.
- Knowledge of different welding positions (1G to 6G).
- Familiarity with weld inspection standards and basic quality control procedures.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Welding certifications (e.g., ASME, AWS, BS EN ISO 9606).
- Apprenticeship or formal training in welding/fabrication.
- Experience with stainless and aluminium pipework or pressure vessels.
- Familiarity with other welding techniques (MIG, Stick) and metal fabrication tools.
