SBC Thermal Characterization TestsAbout the Role:We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Thermal Test Engineer to join our Hardware R&D team. You will work closely with our Mechanical and Thermal Design Lead to validate the thermal performance of AI hardware products, including custom silicon modules, heat spreaders, heat sinks, and active/passive cooling solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Design and execute thermal test plans for components, PCBs, and system-level assemblies.
- Operate and maintain thermal testing equipment (e.g., environmental chambers-ESPEC, thermocouples, data loggers, IR cameras, ).Collect, analyze, and report thermal test data with detailed documentation.
- Support validation of simulation results (CFD, FloEFD) through physical testing.Collaborate with mechanical/hardware design, electrical, and packaging teams to optimize thermal performance.
- Participate in root cause analysis for thermal issues and propose corrective actions.
- Ensure test processes comply with safety and industry standards.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 2-4 years of hands-on experience in thermal testing (preferably in electronics or semiconductor industry).
- Familiarity with thermal measurement tools (IR camera, thermocouple systems, Data Acquisition Systems-DAQs).
- Experience in setting up and running thermal cycling, stress, and reliability tests.
- Strong data analysis and reporting skills using Python, MATLAB, or Excel.
- Working knowledge of thermal simulation tools (e.g., FloEFD, ANSYS Icepak) is a plus.
- Good communication and documentation skills in English.
- Preferred Skills:Experience with GPU, CPU, or SoC thermal validation.Knowledge of JEDEC or IPC test standards (e.g., JESD51 series).
- Experience in scripting automated tests (e.g., using LabVIEW or Python).Familiarity with environmental chambers and forced convection setups.
