Tenancy Support Worker / Housing Officer
- Pay rate: £15.08 per hour PAYE
- Location: Sheffield (site visits required too)
Join Sheffield Council’s Private Rented Solutions Team as a Tenancy Support Worker. This role offers the opportunity to work with landlords, individuals, and families to establish successful private rental tenancies and help reduce homelessness. Day-to-day of the role:
- Set up tenancies: Arrange housing and ensure that payments and benefits are properly set up for tenants.
- Support tenants: Assist tenants in navigating cultural and language barriers, utilising interpreters where necessary.
- Encourage independence: Provide ongoing support to clients during their tenancy and guide them through transitions, including accessing benefits and services.
- Work independently: Manage responsibilities across Sheffield, often working alone in the community.
- Fast-paced environment: Adapt to a dynamic work setting where no two days are the same; collaborate effectively within a hands-on team.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in care, social work, or supported accommodation is preferred, but candidates from other backgrounds with the right mentality and passion are also welcome.
- Empathetic and resilient, comfortable working with mostly male clients and other vulnerable groups.
- Strong ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with a diverse range of people.
- Ability to work flexibly, with expected office/home working at least 2 days per week.
- Driving is helpful but not essential.
