Role responsibilities:
• Ha an expert understanding of the mechanical principles, structural integrity, and component capability for every type of construction hoist and electric winch in the CHHS fleet and be able to answer installation questions when called upon.
• Produce Temporary Works Design solutions for all Hoists being erected, dismantled, or climbed. Typically including design drawings, design calculations & structural analysis, checking and quality assurance.
• Be able to check the capability of structural components and temporary structures using hand calculations from first principles, where applicable.
• Be able to troubleshoot design challenges related to load distribution onto foundations, through ties, and into structures.
• Carry out site visits and project meetings where required. This can be new site visits or existing site visits for climbs. • Write site notes and relay all information back to key stakeholders at CHHS.
• Working with our customers to gather all information required for the job to be completed and adding this detail into design briefs.
• Work with the Operations team to help complete jobs and making sure we achieve the best outcome.
• Continually improve processes and procedures to work towards CHHS goals and provide the best service.
• Provide the Design Manager with regular project status updates in preparation for weekly progress meetings.
• Assisting less experienced team members by sharing knowledge and providing advice where required to raise the overall profile of the team.
• Other daily tasks will be required throughout your working week. As a business we require all staff to complete tasks to help support and cover the business.
Temporary Works
• Conceptualize hoist installations based on client requirements, and industry & hoist manufacturer standards.
• Create detailed engineering drawings, specifying dimensions, materials, load capacities and hoist type, in conjunction with the customer’s structure.
• The ability to check the structural integrity and stability of structures using hand calculations from first principles, where applicable.
• Checking and reviewing of schemes produced by other designers.
• Ensure that a satisfactory temporary works design is developed on time and design check is carried out.
• Provide technical support on site during the install/dismantle process, as required.
• A good working knowledge of the:
o Health & Safety at Work Act 1974,
o Construction Health, Safety and Welfare Regulations 1996
o Construction Design and Management Regulations 2015
o Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER)
o Management of health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999

Qualifications, Certifications & Experience
• Experience within the same position in the construction hoist industry, or other Temporary Works/Structural Engineering role.
• Experience using AutoCAD to a high level. • Experience of using Revit is an advantage.
• Educated to degree or higher level or equivalent in an Engineering discipline.
• Membership of or working towards becoming a Member of the Institute of Civil Engineering (MICE), or an international equivalent.
