About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Technical Support Officer to join our client’s Planning Services – Building Control team on a temporary basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a customer-focused service that ensures compliance with Building Regulations across the borough.

As a Technical Support Officer, you will provide essential technical and administrative support to the Building Control team, helping to maintain high standards of service delivery and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Register and validate Building Regulations applications using corporate systems (e.g., Idox).
• Prepare and issue consultations and statutory documentation.
• Respond to enquiries via phone, email, and written correspondence.
• Manage inspection bookings and issue Completion Certificates.
• Maintain financial records, process invoices, and support fee collection.
• Assist with Dangerous Structures reports and Demolition Notices.
• Support data reporting and KPI submissions to the Building Safety Regulator.
• Handle Local Land Charges Searches and maintain accurate statutory registers.

About You

Essential Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 GCSEs including Maths and English.

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Proven experience in a Building Control environment.
• Strong understanding of Building Control legislation and processes.
• Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and GIS.
• High attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

Desirable:

• LABC Level 3 Certification in Building Control Technical Support.
• Experience with Idox or similar planning/building control systems.
• Project management experience.
