Here at Atherstone, we have a team of around 550 colleagues. We produce sandwiches, wraps, rolls, bircher pots and toasties for some of the biggest retailers in the UK including Aldi, Shell, Costa & Cafe Nero.

What You'll Be Doing

To support the implementation of the food safety and quality management systems by verifying the standards, audit protocol, customer requirements and legal obligations are being met in full

  • Plan and execute the site internal audit plan that complies with BRC requirements, customer, and industry requirements

  • Complete root cause analysis of any audit non-compliance and feedback conclusions and recommendations to relevant managers to ensure issue is eliminated for future

  • Manage the internal audit non conformances and corrective action plans. Hold appropriate meeting to achieve focus on required work and communication of close outs

  • Present to customers and auditors the auditing plan and audit records

  • Provide insight from audit results from site governance meetings to drive audit compliance, to share best practice and to encourage continuous improvement of quality systems

  • Collate and report customer complaints on sites compliance system

  • Allocate customer complaints to appropriate person for action and track its progress through process to ensure that complaints are dealt with in timely manner and with accordance with procedures

  • Support Site Data Analyst to collate, analyse, trend and present technical reports to provide internal and external and external stakeholders the appropriate level and frequency of information

  • Ensure that site procedures, records, reference documents, matrices etc are up to date and logged to maintain integrity of the quality management system

  • Carry out other routine or ad hoc audits for example GMP or trouble shooting as support to wider technical team

What we're looking for

* Ideally educated to degree level with a specialism in Food Science

* Can evidence technical experience within the food industry, including setting technical strategies

* Professional qualifications are to include; level 4 HACCP, level 4 food hygiene, advance microbiological training and level 3 allergen management

* Experienced with analytical problem solving within strict time constraints

* Lead assessor qualification

* QMS - design and implementation

* Specific technical requirements - CIP / Thermal processing

* Experience of managing external contracts with parties such as chemical providers, labs, laundry, pest control etc.

* Government agency experience (EHO / TSO)

* Advanced food legislation and legal knowledge

* Experience of leading and operating with senior teams, internally and externally

* Experience operating at a strategic level maintaining an analytical focus on technical matters

* Demonstrates an ability to manage problems, complaints, and deviations from practice in a calm, professional and effective manner to resolve and prevent reoccurrence

* Experience working with senior teams including senior customer management and credibility
