Technical Officer - Aldine House - Reed : Job Details

We are working with Sheffield City Council to find a Facilities Maintenance Officer on an interim basis, for Aldine House. Location: Sheffield, Aldine House. Job Type: Full-timeHourly rate: £15.48 per hour. Length of role: Initial 7 monthsWe are seeking a Facilities Maintenance Officer to manage the premises, plant, machinery, equipment, and facilities at Aldine House. This role involves a wide range of duties including daily checks, repairs, maintenance, cyclical decoration, and overseeing major projects and improvements. The ideal candidate will ensure the operational effectiveness of all systems and equipment, contributing to a safe and efficient working environment.Day-to-Day Responsibilities:- Monitor and maintain security systems such as CCTV, door alarms, and communication equipment to ensure they are fully operational.- Operate and maintain heating, air conditioning, and generator plants, including routine checks and fault reporting.- Conduct inspections and maintenance of boiler rooms, heating plants, and all associated equipment.- Undertake routine inspections and maintenance of all plant, machinery, and equipment.- Address technical faults promptly, including replacing bulbs, resetting controls, and ensuring the operation of emergency lighting.- Perform general maintenance tasks including glazing, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and decorating as required. -Conduct regular legionella testing and complete risk assessments to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.- Maintain accurate test, inspection records, and documentation in line with procedures.- Liaise with staff from other departments and external contractors, obtaining estimates and initiating work orders for repairs.Required Skills & Qualifications:- Practical experience in building construction technology or property/premises management.- Strong technical knowledge of security systems and heating/cooling plants.- Ability to analyse technical information and make sound judgments.- Familiarity with security, health and safety, COSHH regulations, and moving and handling procedures.- Proficient IT and keyboard skills, including Microsoft Office.- Excellent organizational skills to maintain accurate logs, records, and inventories.- Strong communication skills to effectively deal with internal and external stakeholders.
