TECHNICAL DESIGNER
Monday - Friday: 8am -5pm
£36,000 - £44,000 per annum, depending on experience
People Solutions are currently recruiting for a TECHNICAL DESIGNER to join our well-established client based in SWINDON on a full-time permanent basis.

Day to Day Duties
You will be accountable for the quality and accuracy of all the design work produced in the Drawing Office and your primary responsibilities will be:
- Redraw the client's project from sales to ensure it fits into the sizes supplied
- Send drawings back to Sales Designer for approval of Design Intent
- Issue all information to manufacturing or purchasing in a timely manner
- Ensure all sizes and designs are correct as per the clients request and the accuracy of all information being issued to the client, manufacturing or sourcing
- The Design Schedule of work must be followed as your part in achieving the agreed delivery date and agreed OTIF (On Time In Full) levels
- Ensure all our stringent quality standards are met and always followed
- Resolve any deficiencies to design a customer’s order raising anything that you can’t solve yourself with the Design Manager as appropriate
- Raise potential improvements to the Processes and Procedures so these can be reviewed and appraised to ensure that they are the most appropriate and cost effective
- Maintain and improve upon the Company quality standards
- Maintain a safe, tidy and effective working area
- Ensure that the Company Health and Safety policy is always adhered to
Essential Skills
- CAD proficiency – AutoCAD, SolidWorks
- Engineering or architectural drawing knowledge – ability to understand and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Dimensional accuracy – ensuring all designs are to scale and match required sizes.
- Meticulous checking of measurements, layouts, and specifications to ensure alignment with client and manufacturing requirements.
- Ability to spot errors or inconsistencies before passing drawings downstream.
- Able to work to a schedule and prioritise drawings in line with the Design Schedule to meet OTIF (On Time In Full) targets.
- Time management – ensuring outputs are issued promptly and meet deadlines.
Desirable Experience
- 3D Modelling & Advanced CAD Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, Revit) in addition to 2D CAD.
- Experience creating detailed models, assemblies, or visualisations to aid in client approvals or production.
- Knowledge of how design choices affect manufacturing methods, tolerances, costs, and lead times.
- Experience with joinery, sheet metal, timber fabrication, or other relevant production processes.
- Familiarity with systems like SAP, Oracle, or bespoke ERP tools for managing drawings, BOMs, and project workflows.

- Training will be provided and ongoing support throughout
