Insight Executive is exclusively partnering with the UK Parliament to appoint a Technical Assurance Engineer (Electrical Systems) into the Property Asset Strategy (PAS) team. This is the third of three exclusive engineering roles we’re delivering across the Parliamentary Estate.
If you want to work on nationally significant buildings, ensure engineering works meet exacting standards, and make a meaningful contribution to a thriving parliamentary democracy, this role might be your next step.
The Opportunity
You’ll join Strategic Estates’ Property Asset Strategy team, the in-house specialists who safeguard the quality, safety and performance of engineering assets across the Palace of Westminster, Portcullis House and a diverse mix of heritage and modern buildings.
In this role, you’ll act as a technical watchdog and trusted advisor: inspecting work on site, assuring standards, witnessing testing and commissioning, and supporting project leaders to deliver compliant, high-quality electrical and building-services installations.
Your work will directly influence how the Estate refurbishes historic buildings, replaces ageing infrastructure, and maintains resilience across a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
What you’ll be doing
• Inspecting electrical and specialist systems on site and reporting on quality, completeness and compliance
• Reviewing designs, specifications and contractor submissions before and during construction
• Witnessing testing, commissioning, IST and FAT activities
• Providing technical assurance to project leaders and NEC supervisors
• Reviewing O&M documentation and ensuring accurate digital records
• Monitoring programmes, flagging defects early and helping keep work on track
• Supporting the development of commissioning standards and technical guidelines
What you’ll bring
• A Level 3 qualification in an electrical engineering discipline (HNC/HND desirable)
• Strong site-based experience in building services engineering, Clerk of Works roles or installation supervision
• Confident reviewing contractor designs and monitoring works for quality and compliance
• Experience with Common Data Environments and digital document control
• Clear communicator who adapts style for different audiences and stakeholders
• Comfortable working in complex, multi-stakeholder environments and occupied buildings
• Professional membership (IET, CIBSE, IMechE) and NEC3 Supervisor accreditation are advantageous
Why Parliament?
Working within a UNESCO World Heritage Site, you’ll help shape the future of some of the UK’s most recognisable buildings. Expect:
• Hybrid working (role-dependent)
• Flexible patterns including part-time, job-share and compressed hours
• Structured development, mentoring and training
• A supportive and inclusive culture aligned with Parliament’s values
• Exposure to capital projects, refurbishment works and long-term engineering programmes
CTC security clearance applies.
