We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team, working with a Year 4/5 class. This role is ideal for someone passionate about providing tailored support to children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The position focuses on assisting two children, one with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and another with a visual impairment. This is an ongoing, long-term role starting as soon as possible.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Provide targeted support to two students, one with SEMH needs and another with a visual impairment, ensuring they engage effectively in lessons and school activities.
- Adapt communication and learning materials to meet the students' individual needs.
- Collaborate with teachers and other educational professionals to implement educational plans and strategies.
- Monitor and support the students' emotional and social development.
- Assist in creating an inclusive and supportive environment that enables all students to achieve their potential.
- Facilitate small group activities and one-on-one sessions to reinforce learning objectives and skills development.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, particularly in an SEND setting.
- Understanding of the challenges faced by children with SEMH and visual impairments.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with students, staff, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and a dedicated approach to student development.
- Ability to work flexibly and adapt to the needs of the students.
