About Us

Astro Education is dedicated to reshaping how schools and educators connect. We believe in ethical recruiting, transparency, respect, and true support. Founded by Tim Howarth, who brings over a decade of experience in education recruitment, our mission is to ensure that schools receive top-quality support, and that educators are valued, listened to, and developed.

What You’ll Do

We are currently recruiting Teaching Assistants across Nursery, Primary, Secondary and SEN schools in Cheshire.

Your role may include:

  • Supporting teaching and learning in Early Years, Key Stage 1, Key Stage 2 or Secondary classrooms
  • Working in SEN settings, delivering one-to-one or small group support to children with EHCPs (including SEMH and cognition & learning needs)
  • Helping adapt and deliver structured learning activities under teacher guidance
  • Fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
  • Supporting with pastoral care, wellbeing, and positive behaviour management
  • Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to raise outcomes for all learners

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with children in Nursery, Primary, Secondary or SEN settings is highly desirable but not essential
  • Empathy, patience, resilience, and a positive, proactive attitude
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of different schools
  • DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)

What You’ll Get Working With Us

Astro Education offers a benefits package that stands out. We support you, not just pay you. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Competitive pay – £90-£100 per day (DOE)
  • Flexible work options – full-time, part-time, long-term and permanent roles, with temp-to-perm opportunities so you can “try before you buy” with schools
  • Weekly pay – reliable income every week
  • Free CPD (Continuous Professional Development) – regular training to develop your skills in SEN, classroom support, behaviour management and more
  • Hassle-free registration & transparency – set your preferences for location, year group and work patterns with no hidden surprises
  • Temp-to-perm transition – move into a permanent contract after 12 weeks with no finder’s fee for schools, making you even more attractive to employers

Your Direct Support From Me

As Recruitment & Educational Development Lead for Cheshire – and a Headteacher of 16 years – I bring a deep understanding of school life and the vital role of support staff. When you work with Astro, you’ll benefit from:

  • One-to-one mentoring & regular check-ins – I’ll personally support your journey
  • Tailored professional development – guidance on SEN, behaviour, literacy, and classroom strategies
  • Career progression advice – whether you aim to specialise, gain qualifications, or move into teaching
  • Wellbeing support – I know the pressures of school life; you’ll always have someone in your corner

Why This Role Is Special

  • Opportunities across Nursery, Primary, Secondary and SEN schools – find the right fit for your skills
  • A chance to make a real difference in children’s lives
  • Join an agency that puts educators first and is passionate about long-term success, not short-term fixes
