Reeson Education is recruiting a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a specialist alternative provision in the M7 area. This full-time, long-term Teaching Assistant role begins in September 2025 and offers a meaningful opportunity to support children and young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work with both primary and secondary-aged pupils who have often faced significant life challenges and may struggle to trust others. Many of the children display emotional dysregulation and require one-to-one or small-group support to build confidence, regulate behaviour, and develop both socially and academically. With time, consistency, and care, progress is not only possible - it's transformative.

Teaching Assistant - What You'll Be Doing:

• Supporting children with SEMH as a Teaching Assistant in a specialist provision
• Providing one-to-one and small group support across both primary and secondary age groups
• Building strong, trusting relationships to encourage pupil engagement
• Helping pupils to develop emotionally, socially, mentally, and academically
• Supporting children in regulating behaviour through calm, consistent responses
• Assisting with tailored learning activities and enrichment sessions
• Encouraging friendship building and teamwork within small groups
• Creating a safe, supportive, and positive environment for vulnerable pupils
• Collaborating with teachers, pastoral teams, and external professionals
• Acting as a consistent, compassionate Teaching Assistant presence throughout the school day

Teaching Assistant - What We're Looking For:

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs
• A patient, nurturing, and emotionally intelligent approach
• Confidence to support challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport quickly
• A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning
• Full-time availability from September 2025
• DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
• Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential)
