We are seeking a dedicated SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team, working with students who have autism, ADHD, and challenging behaviour. Day-to-day of the role:
- Support the educational and social development of students with special educational needs (SEN) and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) difficulties.
- Work closely with teachers to tailor learning activities to the individual needs of students, ensuring they engage effectively in lessons.
- Implement behavioural management strategies to handle challenging behaviour and promote a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Plans.
- Provide one-to-one support and group support within the classroom setting.
- Monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience working with children with SEN, particularly autism and ADHD.
- Understanding of the strategies needed to manage challenging behaviour effectively.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Patience, resilience, and a compassionate approach to supporting students with additional needs.
- A relevant teaching assistant or childcare qualification is preferred.
