About the Role

This is a full-time position where you will be an integral part of a thriving English department. The role involves teaching English across Key Stages 3 and 4, with potential for opportunities at Key Stage 5 for the right candidate. You will be responsible for creating a positive and stimulating learning environment, encouraging students to develop a lifelong love of reading, writing, and communication.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Knowledge of the National Curriculum for English.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Creativity and innovation in lesson planning and delivery.
  • The ability to engage and motivate students of all abilities.
  • An analytical mind and the ability to use data to inform teaching.
  • A collaborative and team-oriented approach to work.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective lessons across all ability levels.
  • Set and mark student work, providing timely and constructive feedback.
  • Monitor and track student progress, using data to inform future planning.
  • Differentiate lessons to support a wide range of learning needs, including students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Contribute to the development and moderation of the English curriculum.
  • Prepare students for internal and external examinations, particularly GCSE English Language and Literature.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding student progress and well-being.
  • Promote literacy across the curriculum and a love of reading throughout the school.
  • Uphold and promote the school's values and safeguarding policies.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and whole-school training events.
