Serving the bustling city of Sheffield, Outwood Academy City was constructed in 2011 with state-of-the-art facilities and joined Outwood Grange Academies Trust three years later. The school has undergone a huge transformation for its 1200 students, with an innovative curriculum and a personalised approach to learning enabling them to realise their vocational, practical, creative and academic abilities. This was recognised by Ofsted in February 2019, when the academy was judged 'Good with Outstanding Leadership'. Inspectors noted that, "Leaders and teachers demonstrate high expectations for all pupils. They are determined that pupils achieve well in their subjects".

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Drama Teacher to join our friendly and ever evolving Performing Arts department. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach students across KS3 and KS4 and will be working with a highly experienced Head of Faculty who is supportive and enthusiastic. The department has a track record of achieving excellent results in the BTEC Tech Award in Performing Arts, and the subject is well supported within the academy. The department has a strong curriculum that is well-planned and ready to deliver, with the flexibility to allow for the successful candidate to contribute their own creative ideas and style of pedagogy. The department engages in a range of extra curricular activities throughout the year including an annual musical and weekly enrichment clubs including drama, musical theatre, rock band and music. The academy also participates in Trust events such as

Outwood Performance of the Year which will be performed at Cast in Doncaster this year and a Trust Dance showcase which took place at The Octagon Centre in Sheffield. The department has excellent links with the local theatres and regularly organises trips, workshops and CPD through the network of Sheffield Theatres.

The successful candidate for this post will be working within a large Trust of schools that regularly collaborate and share best practice through the support of a Trust Performing Arts Director. Although this is a temporary post, we are a large Trust, and wherever possible, we will look for opportunities for this candidate beyond this post.
