We are excited to offer a new opportunity within our Tax department for a Tax Specialist. This role involves a mix of personal and corporate tax responsibilities and offers a chance for professional growth and specialization.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Prepare personal tax returns for review by the Manager.
  • Manage a mixed tax portfolio comprising 70% personal and 30% corporation tax.
  • Assist with basic tax planning, projects, compliance matters, and handle client queries.
  • Draft correspondence to clients for review by the Manager.
  • Gain an understanding of the principles of residency, ordinary residency, domicile, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, and the taxation of death estates and trusts.
  • Take responsibility for the delivery of complete tax computations and returns for straightforward companies, ready for Manager review.
  • Handle compliance administration and manage quarterly and year-end processes.
  • Collaborate with the team to share knowledge and ideas, assisting in the achievement of team goals.
  • Start to develop a profile and build knowledge in a specific area of technical expertise.
  • Begin to build a network of professional contacts.
  • Act with honesty and integrity in all dealings with clients, contacts, and colleagues, respecting confidentiality and building trust.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Fully ATT qualified.
  • 4-5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to compute figures rapidly and accurately, and to analyse and interpret financial data.
  • Good technical and compliance knowledge and skills, with support to develop an area of expertise.
  • Maintain professional scepticism and understand business risk.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Good planning, time management, and organisational skills.
  • Effective team player with excellent client liaison skills.
  • Demonstrated awareness of relevant financial targets and constraints.
  • Innovative thinker with a capability to generate and implement new ideas to progress the business.
  • Start to develop specialist expertise relevant to servicing client portfolio.
  • Build business acumen.
