What you'll do:

As a Tax Manager, you will play a pivotal role in leading a dedicated team based in Manchester. Your primary responsibility will be overseeing the delivery of tax compliance and the statutory reporting cycle. You will also be instrumental in driving process improvements through risk-based reviews. Your expertise will be crucial in contributing to business projects where you will identify and address tax implications. Furthermore, you will prepare computations supporting tax disclosures in Group and subsidiary statutory accounts. Your leadership skills will be put into practice as you guide your team towards enhancing efficiency in corporate tax compliance. Additionally, you will provide valuable support to the Head of Tax by offering advice on various business matters.

• Lead the Manchester-based tax team responsible for delivering tax compliance and the statutory reporting cycle
• Undertake risk-based reviews to drive process improvements and support the annual submission of the Senior Accounting Officer certificate
• Contribute to business projects, ensuring that tax implications are identified and addressed
• Prepare computations to support tax disclosures in Group and subsidiary statutory accounts
• Improve processes to enhance efficiency of corporate tax compliance
• Support Head of Tax in providing advice to the business on various matters including VAT recoverability, PAYE queries relating to benefits in kind, and corporate tax issues relating to business activities

This expertise should ideally be gained from working for a top/mid-tier accounting firm or within an industry's tax function. A proactive and forward-thinking mindset is essential, along with a pragmatic approach to problem-solving. The ability to pay attention to detail without losing sight of the bigger picture will be crucial in this role. We are looking for someone who is determined to see tasks through to completion, can meet deadlines while remaining calm under pressure, and holds a CTA or ACA qualification with 1-2 years post-qualification experience.
