Street Scene Operative
- Hourly Rate: £12.58 PAYE or £16.24 Umbrella

- Job Type: Full-time, Shift Work (Shifts available are either Mon – Thursday 07:30 – 15:30, then Friday 07:30 – 15:00 or Thursday to Sunday – 06:00 – 15:45)
Join our multi-disciplinary team in Doncaster as a Street Scene Operative, where you will carry out essential grounds maintenance and cleansing duties throughout the borough. This role is crucial for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of public areas, aligning with Health and Safety legislation.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Maintain streets and public areas according to their needs and designed maintenance and improvement programmes, ensuring service standards are met for the benefit of Doncaster residents.
- Perform general duties outdoors in all weather conditions, undertaking tasks appropriate to seasonal work demands and emergency call-outs.
- Serve as a point of contact for customer enquiries, maintaining professional relationships and acting as an ambassador for Doncaster Council.
- Undertake multi-skilled tasks across different service areas as needed to ensure a consistent year-round service.
- Operate safely with the appropriate equipment, reporting any unsafe conditions, accidents, or equipment defects to the line manager.
- Participate in standby arrangements for winter maintenance and emergency cover, supporting the Emergency Planning Team during crises.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation relevant to the role.
- Experience with a variety of horticultural and street cleansing equipment.
- Full driving licence.
- Proficient in the use of IT systems.
- Experience in customer-facing service delivery.
- Willingness to undertake further training to enhance skills within the role.
