We are looking for an ambitious Strategic and Global Accounts Executive to join our growing commercial sales team. This is a great opportunity to develop your existing skills and work within the leading business in the industry.

The successful candidate will work together as part of the Global Accounts team to liaise with internal business units and key account managers to assist in securing and growing business. You will be supporting the sales and commercial team with in-depth analysis of performance and communicating clearly with other teams across MSC and our customers. Working as part of the Strategic & Global Accounts team, the role incorporates pro-actively liaising with internal business units and key account managers to assist in securing and growing business across multi-trade tenders from the FFWD, NVOCC and BCO segment. The coordination, submission, and negotiation of tenders will be supported by internal analysis to aid strategic thinking based on tenders won, lost and/or declined so we can populate opportunity and target pipelines.

The successful applicant will offer strategic thinking, long term planning and logistics solutions to their client base. The preparation of high-level reporting and analysis to deliver agreed budget targets and develop new clients and opportunities, whilst shaping the strategy to drive increased sales of all MSC products.

You will need effective communication skills and an eye for detail. Day to day you will be using your communication skills to collaborate and work with our wider organisation and our customers to ensure that we are maintaining good client relationships.

Strong Microsoft, Excel and Power BI knowledge is encouraged. This will be key to your role and assisting the team in delivering high skilled work.

The successful candidate will be professional, mindful, and hard working to be able to fit into the dynamic of such a key part of the company.

The core responsibilities for this role are:

  • To promote the MSC brand values through strong customer contact and development
  • Establish, lead and maintain key target accounts, nurturing and developing them to grow volume support across various tradelanes.
  • Work closely with the Trade desk, wider sales team and supporting business units.
  • Aid in the acquiring of new clients to the business through the administrative support provided to the team.
  • Work in unison with the key account management team as support in the busy tender period to complete multi-trade tenders with 100% accuracy within deadlines set.
  • Provision of administration support for the business area, including key account management team across BCO retail tenders, Global Accounts, and local UK tenders
  • Compilation of multi-trade tender submissions for local and international NVOCC and Freight Forwarders
  • Aid in the follow up on tenders via maintenance of internal reporting systems, to establish if secured, if not secured, understand reasons why. Update internal teams with feedback where required.
  • Maintain and update client Service Level Agreements or Key Performance Indicator packs. Arrange bespoke packs/presentation as required.
  • Assist with management of customer forecasting and space control.
  • Monitor performance target programme with the customer.
  • Preparation of KPI statistics for VIP customers
  • Handle administration involved with tender data analysis and recording.
  • Day to day administration to support inbox handling and ad-hoc tasks arising from account managers.
  • Closely working with marketing to identify emerging markets and trends.
  • Collaboration with marketing and trade to identify missing shippers and lost accounts to reignite collaboration.
  • Attending industry exhibitions to identify new opportunities and follow through to securing and onboarding (for example Spring Fair, Autumn Fair, The Great Hospitality Show, Retailing Expo, plus specific industry/sector events etc)
  • Local event attendance to build market ID and MSC exposure.
  • Working closely with origin/destination agencies to develop push-pull strategies.
