Job Title: Stores OperativeLocation: BurtonHours: Monday to Thursday, 08:00 - 16:30; Friday, 08:00 - 13:00Contract: Minimum 6-month contract - likely to go permanentPay Rate: Competitive, based on experience - enhanced overtime available. The OpportunityAn established and rapidly expanding engineering business is looking for a proactive Stores Operative to join their busy warehouse team in Barton Under Needwood. The stores area is being upgraded and extended, giving you the chance to work on a site that's growing fast and to develop your career as the business expands.You'll spend your day counting stock, carrying out cycle counts, updating systems, and ensuring everything runs smoothly in the warehouse. This is not a driving role - you'll be hands-on with stock, using your organisational skills and attention to detail to keep operations running efficiently.Key Responsibilities* Carry out full day stock counting and cycle counts, keeping records accurate and up to date* Receive, inspect, and locate products into stock* Pick, kit, and prepare orders for despatch* Safely use Counterbalance forklifts (current licence required; VNA helpful, Reach can be taught)* Maintain stock records in Oracle ERP or similar systems* Participate in stock audits and resolve discrepancies* Manage incoming and outgoing customer assets* Use barcode scanning for goods in and out* Be comfortable working at occasional heightsPerson Specification* Experience in a warehouse or stores environment, including stock counting and cycle counts* Current and valid Counterbalance forklift licence (VNA helpful)* Good computer literacy, with experience using Oracle or similar systems* Strong attention to detail and accuracy* Able to work independently and as part of a small team* Comfortable working in a busy, expanding site and at occasional heights* Reliable, motivated, and well-organised* Strong communication and problem-solving skillsWhat's on Offer* Stable hours and early finishes on Fridays* Minimum 6-month contract with high likelihood of permanent work* Career progression opportunities as the site grows* Friendly and supportive team environment* On-site parkingIf you're an experienced Stores Operative who enjoys stock counting, working in a busy warehouse, and wants to develop your career, we want to hear from you.
