About the Role

We are currently seeking a dedicated and organised Stores Coordinator to join our team in Barrow-in-Furness. This is an exciting opportunity to support one of the most complex engineering programmes in the UK – the design, build, and maintenance of the Royal Navy’s submarine fleet.

As a Stores Coordinator, you will play a key role in the management and coordination of stock and materials used throughout the submarine programme, ensuring critical components are received, recorded, stored, and issued in a timely and accurate manner. You’ll work closely with procurement, production, and engineering teams to ensure material availability meets operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive, inspect, and record incoming stock and materials, ensuring compliance with specifications and safety standards

  • Maintain accurate stock levels using inventory management systems

  • Issue components and materials to internal departments based on project demands

  • Conduct regular stock checks and audits to maintain inventory integrity

  • Liaise with logistics and procurement teams to manage material flows efficiently

  • Ensure correct storage conditions for sensitive or high-value items

  • Adhere to all relevant health, safety, and security regulations within a controlled site environment

Essential Skills & Experience
  • Experience in a warehouse, stores, or materials coordination role within a complex or regulated environment

  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail

  • Good IT skills, particularly in using inventory and stock management systems

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team

  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams

Desirable
  • Prior experience in defence, engineering, or manufacturing industries

  • Knowledge of handling controlled or classified materials

  • Forklift license or willingness to be trained
