Senior Specifications Technologist – Bakery Manufacturing (Hybrid or On-Site)Location: North Wales | Hybrid: Up to 3 days on-site, 2 days remote (post-training)
A well-established and rapidly growing bakery manufacturer is seeking a Senior Specifications Technologist to join their expanding technical team.
This role offers flexibility, with the option to work on a hybrid basis following a successful probationary period, or fully on-site if preferred. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing and completing product specifications across a range of major UK retailers and internal brands.
Key Responsibilities:
- Completion and management of finished product specifications for major UK retailers and internal brands.
- Supplier onboarding and approval of supplier specifications.
- Administration of retailer systems, including specification and artwork platforms.
- Generation of pack copy and legal naming for internal brand specifications.
- Artwork review and approval, including liaison with design teams, print houses, and retailer contacts.
- Support for NPD processes, including nutritional calculations and submission documentation.
- Conducting cross-checks to ensure consistency across specifications, recipes, and factory documentation.
- Brandbank reviews and approvals prior to product launch.
- Participation in pre- and post-launch reviews.
- Understanding of Brexit-related coding and regulatory requirements.
- Attendance at NPD and cross-functional meetings.
- Contribution to technical projects such as packaging matrix reviews and product information guides.
- Support in supplier approval processes and raw material risk assessments.
- Awareness of BRC and retailer audit standards.
- Understanding of relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks.
- Internal auditing and mentoring of junior specification team members.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Highly organised and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable working with technical systems.
- Experience in retailer specification systems (e.g., Hamilton Grant) is highly desirable.
- A passion for food, particularly bakery products, and a desire to contribute to a growing, family-owned business.
