We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic Sports Coach to join our dedicated team at a nurturing and forward-thinking special school. Our pupils range from age 5–19 years, and many have complex needs including autism, ADHD, SEMH, and physical disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver a broad range of engaging, accessible, and inclusive PE and sports activities tailored to pupils’ individual abilities.
- Promote the physical, emotional, and social development of students through sport and movement-based learning.
- Work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and support staff to ensure PE is fully integrated into each pupil’s individual learning journey.
- Support students during break and lunchtime activities to encourage physical activity and positive interactions.
- Organise and lead internal sporting events and support attendance at external inclusive competitions and festivals.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND (in an educational, community, or care setting).
- A relevant coaching qualification (e.g. Level 2 Sports Coaching or equivalent).
- A patient, proactive and nurturing approach to learning and behaviour management.
- Strong teamwork skills and a commitment to promoting inclusion, independence and wellbeing through sport.
- First Aid and/or Team Teach training is desirable but not essential.
