Sourcing and Technical Support

Up to £25,000, Burgess Hill, Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm (1 hour lunch), 25 days holiday, pension, parking

The Role

We are delighted to be supporting our client, a worldwide provider to the pharmaceutical, biotech and medical research sectors in their search for a Sourcing and Technical Support person to join their team. The role of Sourcing and Technical Support is to actively procure biospecimens to customer specifications and to facilitate the Customer Service and Logistics team in providing the highest level of service. You will report directly to the Sourcing Team Leader and your primary goals will be to liaise with other businesses within the Company group on the sourcing of non-standard enquiries alongside procurement from external sources. Resolving any queries or need for clarification on more complex projects by discussion with the customer directly and by using internal resources and expertise.

• Providing in depth scientific support to the customer service and sales team
• Develop an extensive understanding of the company's substantial products and services portfolio
• Liaise with operations, order management and customer service at Company sites to accurately and efficiently fulfill customer requirements on custom and disease state projects.
• Responsible for the procurement of products from external suppliers to get estimates and supply of materials to fulfill orders.
• Proactively follow up with suppliers to answer technical, pricing and availability queries
• Negotiate the best value for Company with both customers and suppliers
• Reviewing market trends and assisting the Procurement Manager with the management of consignment stock
• Work with laboratory personnel to organise reworks of material when required.
• Assist in the management and planning of large long-term projects
• Responsible for the application of regulatory documentation (CITES) for the transit of controlled species, including monitoring the orders log to ensure permits are available and following up with suppliers where needed.
• Responsible for ensuring all Supplier information is up to date and work with Quality Assurance to ensure all suppliers are approved.
• Responsible for updating CST and DL teams on delivery dates including any changes.

Requirements

To be successful in the role of Sourcing and Technical Support, our client is looking for someone with a degree in Life Science, Biomedical Science or similar. Some experience in biopharma or medical industries would be useful but is not essential. You will be an excellent communicator with great problem-solving ability.
