Solicitor - Local Authority

- Hourly Rate: £35-£45 per hour via Umbrella
Join the Legal Services team within the Corporate Core department at our client, a Solicitor, where you will provide essential legal advice and support, ensuring the Council operates within the law and manages risks effectively. This role may require working outside normal hours occasionally.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Provide clear, accurate legal advice to Council staff and departments.
- Represent the Council in legal matters and proceedings.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues and clients to achieve the best outcomes.
- Draft legal documents and interpret laws and regulations.
- Utilise legal software and stay updated with legal developments.
- Communicate complex legal ideas in a simple, understandable way.
- Maintain a proactive, solution-focused approach and commit to continuous learning.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Qualified as a Barrister, Solicitor, Lawyer, or CILEx Level 6 with a valid practising certificate.
- Must have extensive property knowledge and be proficient in sales, acquisitions, commercial landlord and tenant, academy leases and similar work.
- Experience managing your own legal caseload.
- Ability to advise and handle legal proceedings with minimal supervision.
- Advocacy rights in relevant courts or tribunals.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient IT skills, especially with legal case management systems.
