Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) - Appium Up to £55,000 |  4-Day Work Week | Hybrid Working | Newcastle

 What You’ll Be Doing:

As part of a dynamic testing and delivery function, you’ll play a key role in building and maintaining automated testing frameworks across both functional and non-functional areas. You’ll work closely with engineers and delivery teams to embed automation into CI/CD pipelines, champion best practices, and support continuous testing across a range of platforms and services.

Your day-to-day will include:

• Designing and implementing automated test suites using modern tools and frameworks
• Supporting exploratory testing and contributing to test strategy
• Collaborating with developers to promote shift-left testing and unit test coverage
• Maintaining test environments and tooling
• Coaching team members on automation techniques and quality standards

What You’ll Bring:

• Strong experience in test automation within Agile environments
• Hands-on with tools like Selenium, Appium, Postman, Jenkins, GitLab
• Skilled in writing automation for unit, functional, performance, and contract testing
• Solid understanding of testing methodologies and tools (e.g. Jira)
• Comfortable working with SQL and NoSQL databases
• Passion for emerging tech and continuous improvement
• Experience testing across mobile, web, and microservices
