Job Description :

About the role

As our new Software Assistant Sourcing Manager, you'll have some experience buying and managing software and reseller providers. You'll be responsible for managing negotiation, contracting and managing non-strategic software agreements and reseller relationships. You'll also support the Senior Sourcing Manager with purchasing strategic software. Our Procurement department is going through a period of change, moving from tactical and reactive buying to supporting the business, and this role will be important in achieving that change of direction.

Our Procurement and wider Finance & Corporate Services teams all work on a hybrid basis, with two days per week from our Bristol office and the rest of the week working remotely. The Software Assistant Sourcing Manager will have the same working arrangements, with Wednesdays being a mandatory office day to ensure the teams have the opportunity to connect in person at least once a week.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Owning contract lifecycles, negotiations and renewals.
  • Ensuring the controls detailed in the Procurement policy are appropriately implemented for all relevant vendors.
  • Managing tenders for non-strategic software and resellers where appropriate.
  • Guiding the business owner on commercial opportunities and strategies to deliver the greatest value for the business.
  • Managing the relationship with IT resellers in line with the SRM framework to deliver commercial value and risk mitigation.
  • Raising and managing purchase orders to ensure timely payment in line with contract terms.
  • Analysing purchasing effectiveness and resolving purchasing issues.
  • Supporting other members of the Procurement team with sourcing activity when required.

Skills & experience

  • Needs to have commenced studying for CIPS or have a relevant degree level qualification (desirable).
  • At least 2 years relevant experience.
  • Proficient in writing and reviewing legal documents (with referral points to legal where required).
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrable commercial acumen.
  • Strong inter-personal skills and ability to develop strong relationships both intra- and inter-team.
