We are excited to announce that we are looking for a Shift Manager for our Swindon-based client on a permanent basis.

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Shift Manager will lead and develop their shift. They will focus on increasing productivity, quality and team cohesion to maximise profitability and minimise environmental impact

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Safety:
  • Responsible for the site’s H&S compliance during their shift.
  • Responsible for all operatives’ health and Health and safety working within the facility.
  • Responsible for initially reporting all accidents, incidents and near misses during their shift to the Production Manager/Senior Operations Manager
Leadership and team development:
  • Responsible for people policy compliance within their shift.
  • Responsible for their shift's operational competency. This includes new hires' onboarding, existing colleagues and continuous upskilling.
  • Responsible for coaching and developing all operatives working on their shift.
Inventory Management:
  • Responsible for ensuring stock levels are maintained.
  • Responsible for reporting any missing items.
  • Responsible for reporting any maintenance issues through maintenance tracker on Notion and ensuring a timely rectification plan is in place.
Operations management:
  • Responsible for the shift’s processing execution based on Oxwash standard operating procedures.
  • Responsible for escalating all issues through the appropriate pathway.
  • Responsible for the shift’s operational KPIs.
  • Responsible for the shift’s operational improvements and involvement in Kaizen events.
Quality and customer experience:
  • Responsible for ensuring all items leaving the site meet the stringent quality standards.
  • Responsible for handling queries from Customer Service and escalating where appropriate.
  • Responsible for Quality Checking and documenting all reject items appropriately
KEY QUALITIES AND COMPETENCIES:Techical competency
  • Lean operation/manufacturing knowledge - foster lean methodology and drive improvements within your shift.
  • Working H&S knowledge
  • Ability to build and optimise processes for efficiency
  • Strong understanding of laundry and textile best practices and experience with all processes within the company.
Technology, automation and IT literacy
  • Operational technologies
    • Understanding and ability to improve production management systems
    • Utilising our software and hardware to work as efficiently as possible.
Data literacy
  • Ability to understand and analyse data to identify root causes
  • Ambidexterity: You will be able to demonstrate the balance between existing skills whilst simultaneously exploring new opportunities to improve your operation, fostering full buy-in from the shift.
Leadership and collaboration
  • Leadership: Must demonstrate leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with a strong ability to lead and manage the team during their shift.

The ideal candidate will have a good amount of experience working in a similar role. Have a high level of attention to detail, good IT skills and excellent communication skills.
