About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and skilled Service Acquisition Officer to join the Strategic Market Management and Service Acquisition Team within the Adult Social Care and Public Health Department. This role is part of the Richmond/Wandsworth Shared Staffing Arrangement, offering a dynamic and collaborative working environment focused on delivering high-quality services at optimal value.

As a Service Acquisition Officer, you will be responsible for micro-commissioning care packages and placements across a range of adult social care providers, including transport services. You will work closely with social workers, providers, and partners to ensure the right care is delivered at the right time and cost.

Staff are working from home primarily, however staff will be required to attend the office for some meeting / 1:1 supervision and as required. This is important as this is not solely a work from home assignment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Micro-commission straightforward packages of care and placements using strength-based approaches.
  • Negotiate costs and ensure best value through dynamic purchasing and provider engagement.
  • Optimise use of block contracts and commissioned services.
  • Maintain accurate records and escalate concerns as needed.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external providers to support service delivery and integration.
  • Represent the team in meetings and report on key decisions.
Preferred Experience & Skills
  • Knowledge of adult social care systems in a local authority setting.
  • Understanding of brokering services and the adult social care market.
  • Familiarity with hospital discharges and reablement (preferred but not essential).
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Experience working in partnership with NHS, local authorities, and voluntary sectors.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines under pressure.
Qualifications & Training
  • Minimum A-Level education (including English and Maths GCSE).
  • Training in safeguarding, Mosaic or similar adult social care systems, Microsoft Office, and customer service.
  • Brokerage training or equivalent experience in a brokerage setting.
