Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading multidisciplinary consultancy in their search for a Senior Planner to join their thriving Newcastle office.

The Role

Due to continued growth, our client is seeking an experienced Senior Planner to take the lead on a wide range of projects and play a key role in supporting their expanding workload. You will be working with both public and private sector clients, providing expert planning advice, managing applications, and engaging with stakeholders to secure successful outcomes. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on varied and often high-profile projects, with opportunities for professional development and career progression.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients to understand their planning requirements and guide them through the process.
  • Prepare and submit planning applications in line with relevant legislation and policy.
  • Deliver planning projects in regimes such as Marine, Environmental, Renewable, and Major Infrastructure.
  • Engage with stakeholders, local authorities, and communities to advocate for developments.
  • Conduct assessments to support Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA).
  • Manage EIA projects from start to finish.
  • Stay up to date with planning legislation, policy changes, and industry best practice.
  • Mentor and support junior team members.

Key Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Planning or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years' professional planning experience.
  • RTPI Chartered status (or working towards).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and project management.
  • Experience in consultancy and/or EIA management desirable.
  • Commitment to sustainability and responsible development.
