We are representing an ambitious, independent manufacturer of Light Gauge Steel Frame (LGSF) structures as they continue to grow their team and reputation in the UK construction sector. With a head office in Surrey and manufacturing facilities in Kent, this business delivers high-quality, panelised steel frame solutions tailored to a range of residential and commercial applications.

As part of their strategic growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Structural Draughtsperson / Detailer (Light Gauge Steel) to take a lead role in technical delivery and help build out a future internal design team.

The Opportunity

This is a senior technical role, ideally suited to an experienced LGS professional who enjoys hands-on detailing and wants to shape the technical function of a growing business. You’ll be responsible for producing accurate 2D and 3D detailing and modelling, overseeing drawing packages for manufacturing, and working closely with the Kent-based production team.

As the business expands, you will also have the opportunity to build and lead a small internal draughting team.

Key Responsibilities

• Create detailed 2D and 3D models, fabrication drawings, and CNC files for manufacturing
• Oversee design development from initial brief through to production, ensuring compliance with UK building regulations
• Coordinate with the manufacturing team and wider business to ensure project quality and buildability
• Establish and refine internal detailing standards and procedures
• Support and mentor future junior design staff as part of the company’s growth strategy

Candidate Profile

• At least 5 years' experience in Light Gauge Steel design or detailing within the UK market
• Proficient in Arkitech software (preferred), or Tekla, Vertex BD, Framecad, StrucSoft, AutoCAD, or SketchUp
• Comprehensive knowledge of light steel systems, structural design principles, Eurocodes and UK building standards
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team culture
• Based in or near Kent, with the ability to be present at the facility regularly (office-based preferred)
